The bank was founded in 1868 as Hypothekar- und Leihkasse Lenzburg. Its traditional fields of activity are retail banking, mortgage business, private banking and banking with small and medium-sized enterprises. Under the brand HBL Asset Management the ‹Hypi› offers furthermore professional asset management services.
Open Banking Pioneer
In 2017 the own core banking system Finstar was equipped with an open application programming interface, that’s why the bank is regarded as an open banking pioneer in Switzerland.
