With OpenBankingProject.ch, the companies Avaloq, DXC Technology, Ergon, Finnova, Hypothekarbank Lenzburg, the University of Berne and the Business Engineering Institute St. Gallen are joining forces and, together with other companies, are agreeing on an initial standard for the technological opening of the banking business.
As the first API standard for Switzerland, OpenBankingProject.ch launches the Swiss NextGen API for retrieving account information and initiating payments for the relevant Swiss payment types. It is based on the open standard NextGenPSD2 of the European standardization initiative Berlin Group. This standard is widely used in Europe and is constantly being further developed. Based on the Swiss NextGen API, Swiss companies and especially banks can create new offers for their customers - efficiently and future-proof.
Together with its partners, OpenBankingProject.ch will select further API standards for other business areas in the financial services sector and adapt them for Switzerland in the coming months. The initiative is committed to an open source approach and welcomes other companies that want to commit themselves to open banking in Switzerland and the future of the Swiss financial centre.
